svt131290x max ram

$

I have an SVT131290x ultrabook. I currently have 8 GB of ram (4GB inboard plus extra 4GB stick). Will this machine support 12GB of memory (if I were to upgrade the 4GB extra stick to 8GB)?

The sony specs say 8GB max, but the crucial site says 12GB supported.

Hi Bunnymatty56,

Welcome to Sony Community!

Do you want to reformat your laptop back to factory default setting? If so, you may either press F10 to recover the system using the hidden partition or use the VAIO recovery disc.

Via F10

https://us.en.kb.sony.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/35585

Note: This can only be done if you didn't replace the hard disk or perform a clean install on the system.

VAIO recovery disc

Make sure to read and follow the instructions carefully.

Hi Alihyde75,

Welcome to Sony Community!

Sorry to hear that you can't access the hidden partition anymore. If F10 won't give you the options to do a system restore then a VAIO recovery disc is needed.

We highly recommend visiting our Sony Global Web site for information on contacting the Sony Support Center in your region at http://www.sony.net/SonyInfo/Support/ to assist you with this issue.

hello,

i just update tap 11 keyboard receiver firmware from v1.86 to v1.89

the keyboard just stops response occasionally. it can recover only after it is tapped to the monitor.

i've tried to update the firmware back to v1.86. everything is ok.

so it's not the problem of keyboard battery or hardware.

please fix it.

thanks a lot.

Could sony vaio vpcf21z1e support two ram chipsets with 8 GB (16 GB ram memory)? I read that maximum capacity is 8 GB, but I couldn't understand if that is maximum capacity of one ram slot, or overall capacity.

I didn't think it would work as the Sony spec says "8G max". But maybe they meant the max config they sell?

I hunted around, and found two vendors who's "memory finder" claimed they had compatible 16GB cards, and further claimed they had a money back guarantee if they were in fact not compatible. So I took my chances. And... IT APPEARS TO WORK!

I've installed it, and the Control Panel and Task Manager both clearly confirm 16GB is in place. Some basic testing seems to show that it's working fine too. I'll post here again if I see any problems, but given these indicators, I think all is well!

Hi Bunnymatty56,

Welcome to Sony Community!

You just need to follow the instructions provided. Once you're done the laptop will be back to its factory setting which includes all the drivers and software that came with the device. It will also be back to the original operating system. No need to reload all the drivers from the website because you already did it. What you need to do is to install all the update from the website. I hope this helps.

I don't think you can do it, you have to replace everything. Like : hard drive/SSD, ram, motherboard etc.
