Base system device

After reinstalling windows 7 from scratch because of a disc failure, I installed all the official drivers of my vaio model (VPCF125FX). But In device manager I have a "base system device" with a yellow mark. Checking the hardware id its the Ricoh memory stick (PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_E230&SUBSYS_9067104D&REV_00
)

Drivers already installed from sony model page:

Audio

Bios

Bluetooth Wireless

Memory card reader

Memory Stick

Motherboard

Network

Video

Wireless LAN

OS: W7 64b sp1

Besides. everything seems to be working fine except the firewire s400 connection. I have a profire 610 audio interface that worked fine before but not now.

Any help?

Thanks

Hi,

I currently have a Sony Vaio laptop, which I purchased in 2013, and I've put a BIOS password that for some reason doesn't work anymore (perhaps I've forgotten it or something).

As such, I need to reset it to change it or remove it. Can you please help me with this ASAP?

I have the purchase invoice and everything you might need regarding the genuinity of ownership.

This particular Vaio details are:

Model: SVP112A1CM

Product Name: SVP1121C5E

Serial Number: 54686995-001351

Thank you

Hi jacampos67,

Welcome to Sony Community!,

We don't recommend transferring the file from disc to USB because we can't guarantee that it will work. We suggest that you use a external optical disc drive to prevent any unforeseen issues.

Jen

Hi fenawa

Thank you for considering Sony Community!

Did you install all the drivers from eSupport website? Based on our tool, Microsoft® Windows® 7 Home Premium 64-bit is the original OS of your unit. You may try my suggestions here to resolve the issue:

For further assistance, we kindly recommend visiting our Sony Global Website for information on contacting the Sony Support Center in your region at http://www.sony.net/SonyInfo/Support/.

Hi Vincent,

Thanks for your response. In regards of your suggestions I have to say that I didn't install ALL the drivers/software. The ones I didn't install are:

Picture Motion Browser
PlayMemories Home
Remote Software
Vaio Gate
Vaio Media Software
WinDVD Software

Based on what I read in each driver/software page description, I don't think they are critical to the correct system operation or performance. I decided not to install them because I actually don't need them / use them. As I said before, I had a HDD failure, loosing everything, including original OS that came installed. Since I had to replace the HDD, after installing W7 Pro 64 b, I re installed sony drivers / software that I listed in my previous post plus Vaio Care, Vaio Update. I already ran vaio update and windows update several times without luck. As I said before, everything is working fine at the moment except the yellow mark on memory stick driver, plus s400 connector that doesn't recognize my profire 610 audio device.

Although I live in Argentina, my vaio model is from USA. That's why I ended up at sony.com for drivers and assistance. I you have any other suggestion, please let me know.

Regards, Federico

Hi lafite1968,

Welcome to Sony Community!

Did you encounter an error message when you attempted to go to Vaio recovery center? Try the steps in this link, https://us.en.kb.sony.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/35585/c/65,66/kw/factory%20reset%20using%20f10 . If issue still persist it means that the partition is already corrupted. You need to use a recovery disc to install the original setting of the computer.

Yes, i encountered the famous blue screen, after chksdk it says windows has uncorrectible hardware error. I found out by pressing f10 and alt, i now can do the clean reinstallation back to original factory setting. But now that i need to replace the hard drive, as bsod still coming back, i wish sony did not spinned off vaio otherwise i can just buy a replacement hard drive directly from sony.
But now, i cant, so, how do i clone my hard drive including all sony setting especially recovery console, the driver for sony web cam, the windvd blu ray with access key all things onto a replacement hard drive or usb drive first then onto replacement drive ? Million thanks.....

Also, there is a intel raid pops up appears lower right hand corner of my screen, telling me to back my data immediately, i clicked to open the intel raid matrix storage technology console, it says volume 0 is good, port 0 is good but port 1 has error. I tried to "verify and repair" but would not let me, only recreate, delete volume, verify volume as available options, so i did verify the volume, came back volume is good but port 1 still error and blue screen still comes back.
So, can you provide instructionas to how to recreate or rebuild intel raid, ?

Either to replace the hard drive or not, i guess i need the RAID solutions, million thanks

I keep getting a popup from Interactive Services Detection and I exit it but it keeps popping up again. It reads, "This problem occurs when a program is not fully compatible with Windows. Please contact the program or device manufacturer(s) for more information." I did so and was told they could help me with the problem for a one time fee of $99. Why should I have to pay $99 for a one time fix of something that was in an update of your product? I will  NEVER purchase another Sony product again. This is extortion.

I bought a used sony vaio all in one pc model VPCL215FD which the previous owner had installed a stock copy of windows 10 onto, when he did that he formatted the sony recovery partition and now that I dont have Vaio Care Recovery installed I cannot get to the bios setup menu. I have tried holding the assist button while booting and all the fkeys but no matter what I do  I can't get to it

I have tried to download care recovery from the sony support website where you would normally get drivers etc. but when I try to install it says that I need to download the correct version for my x64 based system. I have tried to download set to my model and is windows 7 64-bit multiple times but I always get that result. This is the link where I am downloading from:

https://esupport.sony.com/CA/p/swu-download.pl?mdl=VPCL215FD&upd_id=9781&os_group_id=6

The reason I want to get at the bios setup anyway is because due to the way the previous owner had installed windows 10 it boots in bios mode legacy. I believe that I need to set the pc to boot into UEFI mode only and then do a clean install on windows 10 to resovle that issue but to do that i need to get t o the bios menu.

A user on the forum windows secrets was having the exact same problem as me at this link:

http://windowssecrets.com/forums/showthread.php/170773-Windows-10-troubleshoot-boot-to-UEFI-settings-gone-(Win-10-Pro-64-bit)

Please any help is appreciated, not sure what I can do next?

Thank you.
